I've been hitting up a lot of music venues from... about three months ago. Never really bothered to blog about it since Mimi (www.madeablog.com) always does anyways. But now that she's gone, I think I will talk about today's Central Park Summer Stage experience.
Born Ruffians was pretty impressive. I feel like Canadian bands that are big in America are generally good, but never too outstanding. Kid Sister was a bit underwhelming, but A-Track was pretty entertaining (apparently they're dating?)
Finally Vampire Weekend went up soon after the horrible Hip-Hop act, and succeeded to please us all. I was impressed by how much fun and energy they brought to the stage. It wasn't crazy moshing or packed but people all enjoyed it enough to keep it energized. They performed one of their new songs that referred to as "White Sky." Seems like it's a bit 80's inspired, which I always welcome.
It's probaby the best fun I've had in a while, the pouring rain made the act even better. I have to remember how much fun outdoor venues are. I'm gonna try to hit up Yael when she comes to Summer Stage on the 20th.
I also managed to get VW's set list... it is as follows:
Set List Mansard Roof Campus Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa I Stand Corrected White Sky (D/I Song) Bryn A-Punk One (Blake's Got a New Face) M79 (w/ strings) Boston (w/ strings) Kid's Don't Stand a Chance (w/ strings) Giant Oxford Comma -- Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty (w/ strings) Walcott (w/ strings)
